MINISTRY: FOLLOW-UP

The Follow-Up Ministry has an important task to fulfill, and that is to lay the foundation of God’s Word into the lives of new believers. As a person repents and turns his life over to the Lord, this new believer or newborn baby must be taught the basic foundation studies of the Word of God. The Scriptures says that “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow whereby.” (1 Peter 2:2).

The most important thing for a baby is to grow. As newborn babies cannot feed themselves, the Follow-Up Ministry takes on this task of feeding them so that they may grow up spiritually strong and rooted in the Lord.

For a new believer, to grow on to spiritual maturity requires first a sound footing. In DLCC, the Follow-Up Class is conducted in two stages. Besides using the Bible, we have two manuals to guide us along. They are our DLCC “Laying the Foundation Book One” and “Laying the Foundation Book Two” manuals. Both these series of studies will run concurrently with each newborn going through the first book before he is taught the other.

The emphasis of these Follow-Up Classes is to equip new believers with a knowledge of basic Biblical truth to aid them in their walk with the Lord, in understanding the preached Word and in their own personal studies of the Word. We thank God for His mighty hand upon the new believers, teaching them and helping them to grow, not only in the knowledge of His Word, but also in their daily walk with God.

The Follow-Up Class is for members of all ages. As long as one becomes a citizen of the Kingdom of God, one is to be taught the basic foundation of the Word of God. This year alone, in DLCC, we are blessed to have in our classes members of different age groups, all eager to learn God’s Word, all growing well. Praise the Lord!

The Follow-Up Ministry also involves the work of our Counselors. Every week, after our Pastor’s message, a Counselor is on hand to receive any newborn who has accepted the Lord, and to take down his contacts. The Counselor will then usher the newborn into the Follow-Up Class. If for some reason he cannot attend it, he will be channeled to one of our House Church Fellowship and be discipled by our members.
